Cisco vs Sonicwall
Cisco: Two 881's in main office and a 851 in each remote location.
Sonicwall: One TZ 210 main office and a TZ 100 in each remote office.
This is the setup:
Two lines one pppoe and the other sdsl set for failover.
Im looking for what would be the best failover time and stability of the failover. Also the stability of the VPN.
Two VPN connections to remote offices and website traffic, with print jobs going between the offices.
We do have a guy that is a cisco wizard we have worked with in the past.
The sonicwall sales dealer is new.
Things I do know.
I do like the gui for the sonicwall and makes my life easier. The cisco guy tells me the SDM for the cisco gear is not all that great. which means I'm limited to basic easy fixes for the cisco gear through command line.
Our current setup is three 851's with VPN.
Generally speaking :
- what kind of failover are you wanting, active/active or active/standby?
- stability of the VPN depends how stable the overall connection is. Software-wise, do your
research into bugs and release notes. From a Cisco perspective, they're VERY good with their
bug lists and release notes.
- I avoid SDM like the plague as I'm an IOS CLI guy.
