I think the real issue is that its not just 20 cents per gig its that the customer has to buy it in a 50gb block. its not like they hit the cap, and the as they go over it gets charged per gig. which would actually be reasonable because if the cap is for example 100gb and someone uses 101gb they pay ten bucks not their bill plus twenty cents.

Steep would be a punitive rate, wherein you paid substantially more per GB than is included in the basic charge, much like we used to see with cellular bucket plans. | |

it's 20 cents per GB assumimg you happen to use all 50 GB. If you go 1 GB over you're paying $10 per GB which is what mobile carriers charge which eveyone feels is total BS.
This is how the scam works. Say it's "only" 20 cents per GB but it's really going to be MUCH more most of the time. Why not just charge 20 cents per GB overage or have overage in smaller blocks like says $1 per 5 GB? | |

Since the base expenses are all covered by the service base price anyway, additional bandwidth is at best a few pennies, so yeah, "Steep" is accurate.

But you aren't buying bandwidth by the bit. You're buying it by the bucket.
Would you prefer a granular system, wherein you were billed for every bit?
The rates are more than fair, assuming the metering is accurate - which I'm not.
And they are not, by any sane definition, "steep". | |
