If you actually wanted to know which way the wind was blowing I guess I'd call the Prime Meridian N or 0 deg, and the Anti Meridian South or 180 Deg. |

They must measure wind direction some other way, since the forecasts say stuff like "Winds from the NNW at 20 mph shifting to the SSE in the morning."
The location is specified as 90° 0′ 0″ S, 139° 16′ 0″ W. I wonder how they arrived at a longitude for 90° 0′ 0 S, since all longitudinal lines converge at 90° 0′ 0 North and South.

Going by Google Earth, it shows that would be up to about 6" away from the pole, on that longitude line. Perhaps the ice shifted a bit. |
