Re: Intermittent Connection

He was grabbing at straws or trying to BS you so he could leave. Fluctuation in the power? Yeah, ok.

I wouldn't rule it out 100%... I've seen radios do strange things when they are fed a bad voltage or not enough amperage.... But normally the issues will be much more major. Like I said before, it's doubtful that the power supply was the problem.

I had the exact same problem with my 900mhz system as my 5.7ghz system..

Ok, so maybe it is something upstream from the tower. A backhaul that feeds the tower maybe? Or even the system they use for bandwidth management and traffic queues. Hard to say, but most users won't even notice a slight dip in traffic as long as it doesn't slow down their overall surfing experience or cause problems with the gaming or VoIP calls. The problem could be affecting a bunch of people and they don't even know it.

It's difficult to produce results because the only ping i can get from quite a few of the hops is a tracert ... if i try to ping the address directly they are blocked.

This means i can't send a ton of packets to see what the cause is... and the tech support for this company seems to be pretty lazy.

Hell i emailed a tech support and they said call the office to see if they have power supplies in stock.

I thought, well i emailed you, you could have easily phoned the office and found out about the power supplies and sent me back an email.

We'll see what happens when i get this power supply replaced... Hopefully it fixes the problem... if not, then i guess it doesn't matter cause i'm leaving the country november 2...

Edit: Also I can't see how people don't notice that their connection is effectively halfed. When i download a game off steam or d2d it takes days, where if i had a stable connection it would only take a day to download. But who knows...

Also the results of trace routes and ping tests don't coincide with my drop in connection speed... i get drops in download speed every 1-2 seconds... but my ping only jumps maybe 10-15 seconds apart... so it's hard to get a real result.

Unfortunately i'm not able to login to the radio, so i can't actually see any statistics myself in order to find out any problems..

So, after a week of waiting for the company to get their shipment in... it's not the issue.

Not that i'm surprised at all, was just hoping it was that simple.

Unfortunately as always, dealing with companies like this is a major pain in the ass and deal with you like you are retarded.

I'm out of the country on wednesday, so i guess the rest of the family has to deal with shitty internet till i get back in april.

Of course when the tech came out he didn't bother to see if there was any interference.

Question is, would interference mess with upload? I would imagine it would have a similar effect either way.

So back to square one of the problem i've been having for a long time now.
