2wire 2701hg-b as modem/router and router as access point

I was wondering how can I use my bell router (2wire 2701hg-b) as a regular router/modem and another router which I will be purchasing to be an access point so I can extend the wireless signal. Thanks.

Connect the "new" router access point to your PC via the LAN port. Configure it to not use DHCP. OK to provide a static IP if you wish and a name. Unplug router from PC and plug it into your 2wire. Your 2wire should see it or you can navigate to the new router via the IP address you assigned. Once there, you can access the new router and configure the 2nd wireless - voila.

A reminder, on the 2wire, static IP addresses are normally 192.168.1.1 through 192.168.1.63. Use a number in this range if you assign a static IP for your new router.
