| [Cable] Any Word on Dupont POI UpGrade Plans? Was wondering if there are any updates regarding the Dupont POI plans. It does seem congested at times. Got any statistics and/or demographic's on how many we're serving?
I also wonder about the Teksavvy speedtest calibration »/speedtest?flash=1, a lot of the times I'm getting on average 12 - 16 Mbps, seldom in the 24Mbps ballpark on the extreme pro, sigh. |
|
 | According to direct forums, they were scheduled to be completed 2 weeks ago. that has come and gone. It hasn't gotten any worst, i can still download at the blazing speed of 2mbps. |
|
 | reply to Merovingian I asked in the direct forums and they are waiting for an ETA from Rogers. D: |

| reply to Merovingian I imagine TSI's requests for updates about Dupont go something like this:
TSI: Hey guys @ Rogers, any idea when that Dupont upgrade we ordered 6 months ago will happen?
Rog: Yeah it'll happen when it happens
TSI: Well, some of our customers are upset, and other upgrades ordered before Dupont have been done already
Rog: And?
TSI: We payed you guys a lot of money to start the upgrade process, but you haven't done squat!
Rog: Yeah we had a sweet lunch party with that $. 3 different kinds of cake! You should have been there.
TSI: wat????
Rog: If you're not happy with our service you can use a different cable provider.
TSI: But there isn't any other cable providers in that area!
Rog: Suckit.

 | Theres no click, they communicate by email only. Thats half the problem. On a phone there isnt a 24-48hour delay between people sending a message to one another. Imagine communicating like that. |

Imagine communicating like that. They need to use an Instant Messenger client , seriously. Maybe a software dev should code a "TPIA-IM" client & server with encryption between 'em all, so it interfaces with their common TPIA databases and ticketing systems too. Sure would be hella better than an e-mail system. Of course we customer people know robbers people just won't go for that either. Realistically its more like
TSI: Hey guys @ Rogers, any idea when that Dupont upgrade we ordered 6 months ago will happen?
48 hours later: no reply from Rogers

48 hours later: no reply from Rogers

TSI: guess we'd better sign more people up then! |

 | reply to Merovingian I saw some Rogers techs rummaging through the 'blue boxes' on my street last light. The were fishing out all the tin cans. They had a big ball of string with them too. |
|
 | lol when i read that i pictured the Rogers guys as dirty homeless dudes
but then i thought 'nah, that's mean to homeless folk, some of THEM probably have a an IQ over 50 and don't smoke crack'
more than i can say about Rogers folk |

IM is not where it's at for this sort of thing.
TSI already enters information into their own internal support systems - they should NOT be relegated to re-typing something into an unauditable IM system. Ooops, my PC just locked up and I have to reboot it....can you re-type all the stuff you sent for the past 6 hours?
Whats needed is stuff along the lines of things I have done for large financial institutions - asynchronous message passing directly from their support system to Rogers so that it processes in Rogers support system. Some XML, some industrial strength message passing - like RTR or MQ, and the same thing can be easily adapted to interoperate with Telus, Bell, and any other incumbent. |

 | reply to Merovingian Stop joking about it, we have a serious problem. I do not care whose fault it is, I demand service I am paying for!
Lets bump this topic until we got the answer! |

| bumping a thread in the TSI forum isn't going to make Rogers respond, when TSI knows whats going on i'm sure they'll try to pass it on here
although i'm surprised TSI hasn't made any effort to bring the serious lack of support from Rogers to the CRTC's attention
it's like they don't want to make waves anymore so they're playing as nice as they can with Rogers, so if Rogers ignores their requests for something as simple as an expected date, they just keep asking nicely instead of trying to push where it hurts
just my opinion though |

| Glad to see my "TSI talks to Rogers" hypothetical conversations have caught on.
In seriousness though: Jibby's right. Rogers doesn't care and has every incentive to screw with TSI at every opportunity. The only thing that could possibly scare them is legal threats, but the CRTC is unlikely to step up. |

| reply to Merovingian I highly doubt that TSI gave Rogers a bunch of money for the upgrades to be done. If money exchanged hands then there would be a contract and with a contract would come an agreed upon completion date. No, more likely, TSI has asked Rogers to do the upgrade and said that when the upgrade is done then they will pay for it. That of course has not slowed down TSI from taking everyones payment in full every month though has it? Just saying... |

| reply to The Mongoose I personally think that at some point Rogers decided that if they were gonna be forced to provide TPIA, they were going to do the absolute minimum required by the CRTC. So no requirements or enforcement about service levels or response times means that Rogers just does whatever they heck they want, they're just required to take orders and plug stuff in - anything beyond that is just them being 'nice'
And Bell decided to throttle GAS and not speed match, and that was fine too. Market forces, right?
Can't blame the snake for trying to be a snake I guess... |

As far as i understood it, it's $1500+ upfront just to put in the request to see if Rogers can do it, nevermind if it gets approved or not.
maybe i'm remembering wrong though or it's changed |
