[Cable] [Cable] Videotron Upgrade 2.0We had a due date of October 26th 2011 for the Videotron upgrade. This has been pushed up from October 26th to October 18th. When I was advised all I could think was... good golly, why aren't all our upgrades like this |

Hehe, Rogers needs to go to the Videotron school of backhaul upgrades! |

God damnit! Now what am I gonna...
wait, you didn't mean to say November 18th right?
Wow, but at least, good thing they don't do this to installation dates.
Videotron - Sorry, we can't come tomorrow, we're coming right now. Me - What no im in the shower!
Note - I'm guessing videotron isn't procrastinating like Rogers since they don't let Teksavvy offer anything else than their own plans at a small discount with no bundle. The discount is in the fact that they don't need to provide the equipment or support to "bougons" (Quebequers will know what I mean).
edit - Hey Martin, will Teksavvy consider setting up a link to the internet in Montreal, so Quebec users don't need to hop to Toronto and then back when connecting to local servers? |

Perfect, I'll be able to enjoy buffering-free streaming even sooner! =D |

Let's cross our fingers Videotron respects its due dates (unlike Rogers.............) |

That's what I like to hear! |

Well, with all the new sign-ups, let's hope we'll get normal speeds throughout the year. |

If the CRTC decide in favor of consumers, i expect a massive amount of videotron customers moving to teksavvy with better caps. Let's hope all future update will be like this one. |

There is only 1 upgrade & that's our Aggregated POI. Going from 300M to a Gig-E. |

Videotron - Sorry, we can't come tomorrow, we're coming right now. Me - What no im in the shower! Videotron's automated system will call a bit before the appointment (I don't remember what the lead time is, 5-15 minutes, something like that), so if you get out of the shower when the phone rings, you should have time to throw some pants on before the Videotron guy shows up. It's nice because, if you've got the day off and want to sleep in, you can just sleep and let the phone call wake you up. Whenever I have a Bell appointment, I have to put a sign on my door saying "Dear Bell, please knock loudly, as I may be asleep." |

Wow only a 300m for an entire province. Just shows how piss poor videotrons pricing is for tpia. |

It has nothing to do with pricing... It has all to do with the demand. |

Re: [Cable] Videotron Upgrade 2.0Hi.
1- Thanks for keeping us posted on this subject. Transparency is weirdly refreshing.
2- Hopefully, it will restore our bandwidth to what it's supposed to be during peek usage hours.
3- It's not enjoyable but when I see the messages about the same problems in Ontario with Rogers and what everyone has to endure...
Thanks again for letting us know what's happening. |

That will definitely give TekSavvy a lot of room to grow in Quebec for a while and all the current users will be very happy with the increase. said by malquin:2- Hopefully, it will restore our bandwidth to what it's supposed to be during peek usage hours. Thanks again for letting us know what's happening. It should as the only issue that currently seems to be happening is peak congestion. said by malquin:3- It's not enjoyable but when I see the messages about the same problems in Ontario with Rogers and what everyone has to endure... Ontario has non-agrregated POIs, this means that TekSavvy needs to run fibre to each one to upgrade it. Quebec has an aggregate POI, this means that TekSavvy needs to run fibre to only one POI and they are than able to service everyone in the Videotron footprint. |

I'm not that good in maths and please let me know if I'm wrong.
If with a 300M link we currently have an average speed of 1,5Mb during peak hour, how could a 1000M solve this problem? 300M -> 1000M is an 333,33% link speed increase. However, my 1,5M * 333,33% speed increase is only 5Mb. Since we should have 8Mb, even during the peak hour, how could an increase from 300 to 1000 could even give TS a lot of room to grow in Quebec like some here are saying? |

I agree with Fredtek's math. Doesn't make sense? |

I hope we won't have to go thru the same problems again, TSI should be upgrading their current link when it reaches 60% utilization if you take into account provisioning times and overhead. |

Ooh, its the 18th!
Does that mean sometime during the day? Will everything be fixed by tonight? :O
In any case, if this gets everything fixed, I'll be thrilled! BF3 next week =D |

This is the first upgrade for Quebec so if everything goes smoothly and so far it seems that it is an upgrade will take a somewhere between 7-30 days to book and complete. The original upgrade date, October 26, 2011, was given on October 5, 2011 and 8 days later it was moved up to October 18, 2011, which to me it seems that Videotron is quite happy to support TPIA. |

Typically with any upgrades their may be a small downtime. Unless there is a major issue, I don't think you notice more then a blip. |

Martin, I pay for the 30mb service but I also get 1.5mb during peak hours. During off hours however I am not finding the speed goes over 8mb. Is this due to the problem or could it possibly be an account setup problem? |
