What is the maximum speed for a given modem?

I have what I thought should be a simple question, but I can't find the answer anywhere. I have DSL at two places, both us a Westell 6100 series modem. Both are currently running the least expensive service offered (i.e., slowest), and both work well. Assuming my carrier offers higher speeds, and the physical line will support it, and I want to pay for it, what is the maximum line speed this modem will support before I have to buy a different one? I can't find anything anywhere that says what the maximum line speed is for this or any other given DSL modem. Thanks.
