Can a USB hub be used with netgear n600?

Our cable broadband provider included a Netgear n600/wndr-3400 10/100 router with a USB port on it for external drives.

Can I use a USB hub with it and hook up more than one device? Will printers work with it?

It seems like a nice router, except for the fact that it isn't gigabit (which we don't really need as we really mainly use the wireless).

Also, on these devices, what is the maximum number of wireless devices that will work on it? We are using 3 phones, 1 iPad (hope to add one or two more), 3 notebooks, and up to 2 desktops.

Thanks.

EDIT:

Ok, took a chance and hooked up a hub to it, and indeed, both thumb drives are seen, but I still don't know if I can use a printer and don't know what the wireless device quantity limit is.

I am guessing that a printer would work too provided the computer has the driver, but I wonder if there is a hard limit to the wireless device list.

No, it is designed for storage devices. In fact the manual says you shouldn't hook a printer up to it. At any rate it isn't designed to act as a print server to handle spooling of printer jobs. I assume, since you want to connect it via usb that it is not a network printer(with its own print server) that could connect wirelessly or through ethernet. If true then you would need to share the printer by connecting it to one of the machines directly, such as one of the desktops, and use file and printer sharing on that machine to make it available to the others (i.e. with the directly connected machine acting as print server).

As far as the number of wireless clients the router can handle this can vary depending on load each is putting on it and things like the processing ability of the router. I don't think less than 10 clients should be a problem unless they are hammering it.

I wonder if I can do harm to it hooking up the USB hub as I have. It seems fine...

I wouldn't think you can harm it. Are you able to access it and print from multiple machines?
