[Compatibility] RCA easyRip Media Manager, what format does it cI was given an RCA M6204 MP3/video player and while it works well as an MP3 player I'd like to load some video on it, problem is I run Linux and it can only take video that has been converted to an unspecified format. Unfortunately easyRip Media Manager doesn't run in Wine so I can't use that. But provided it isn't some moronic custom format I should be able to convert it into a proper format. |

Yes, but the software in question is easyRip Media Manager, which is only made for Windows, I had said I had tried to use the WINE Windows compatibility layer to run said software with no luck, hence why i asked if someone with windows could tell me what format it converts video to so that if it isn't a completely custom format I could find something Linux native to do the transcoding.
In other in short, move the topic back... |

Let's wait & see if there's something native that might work
..we can always send it on, if needed, to Audio/Video chat |

Howdy,
I'm not sure if I can help you but I need some clarification on what is the intended target video format. Linux has a boat-load of converter tools so if you specify what the source format is and the intended target, we should be able to help you out.

I just looked at the manual for this. It states that it MUST be converted by the software to use video on the device. That sounds like it is doing something funky with it. I could not find what format is uses anywhere. |

In case it helps, let me try to clarify.
The OP is presumed to be competent with Linux conversion tools. This isn't a Linux question. The issue is the source format.
If anyone knows,
What codec/wrapper is used by RCA easyRip Media Manager?

Yes, this precisely! Yes, I'm still here, I've not up and disappeared. |

Try opening one of the files with gSpot or MediaInfo. They will both list the video/audio codecs. |

I don't have a file created by it to test, hence the topic. |

So you have a player and some random software that you want information about? How you tried the User Manual or hardware specs? » rcaaudiovideo.com/audio/ ··· ku=M6204 |

Had the same exact problem. CrossOver nor Wine worked so I used a win computer to install the RCA software to and converted a few files. One movie, one TV show, one taken from a DV cam and one more from a cheap webcam. Other than variations in sample rate and stereo/mono they all came out the same. Here's a quick run down on what I got on them.
Stream 0 Type: Video Codec: Motion JPEG Video (MJPG) Resolution: 220x176 Framerate: 9.932439
Stream 1 Type: Audio Codec: IMA WAV ADPCM Audio (ms) Channels: Stereo/Mono ;Either one. Sample rate: 22050 Hz ;Three were this rate. One was 24000. Bits per sample: 16 |
