[Spam] Citizens Air Patrol Spam

Author's Note: Names/email addresses have been removed to protect the (potentially in some cases) innocent

From what I know the Citizens Air Patrol, what is being advertised in the following two emails, is in fact a legitimate program. I do not however remember signing up or asking to be a part of the program in any way shape or form, especially using the email address these messages were sent to. Why would anyone be using personal (yahoo/gmail) addresses to discuss or send program related materials from (especially to someone who did not sign up)?

Cadet,

Congratulations! Your CAP membership became effective today and your CAP ID is xxxxx. Attached is an important document we call "Getting Started" which contains helpful information for new members including when you can expect to get your new member kit/ID card, how to log in to eServices, how to sign up to receive squadron emails, etc.

Once you have activated your account in eServices, you'll use the Cadet Uniform link to order your free Class B ("blues") uniform per the "Complete Uniform List For Cadets" document -- also attached to this message. Please be sure to order the pants (at least) a waist size larger than you usually take as they run very small. The shirt runs small as well so you'll want to order 1/2 -1 full size larger than your current neck size. Measuring/sizing information is available as a pop-up on the order page. The Air Force Military Clothing supply is notoriously slow (months!) in filling orders for CAP so please place your order as soon as possible. The other items you'll need to purchase/acquire to complete the blues uniform (name plate, t-shirt, shoes) are also covered in the "Complete Uniform List For Cadets."

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Welcome to CAP!

V/r,

Capt, CAP
Deputy Commander for Cadets
Leesburg Composite Squadron

Charlie Flight,

These are the basic items you will need to memorize. Last week, most of mine and Sgt. questions were focusing on this information. I would like to quiz you all over this material next week, however if we don't get a chance to don't think it's over and we won't ever ask you anything from here. This information is important not only at the squadron meetings but you need to know some of these things in order to promote and your CAP career will be so much easier if you memorize everything now rather than putting it off for later, I know from experience.

General Knowledge:
Cadet Oath: I pledge to serve faithfully in the Civil Air Patrol cadet
program, and that I will attend meetings regularly, participate actively in unit activities, obey my officers, wear my uniform properly, and advance my education and training rapidly to prepare myself to be of service to my community, state, and nation.

Honor Code: I will not lie, cheat, steal, nor tolerate anyone who does so.

CAP Core Values: Respect, Integrity, Volunteer Service, and Excellence

Motto: Semper Vigilans (Always Vigilant)

There is a lot of information that is very helpful. There are 64pages however; and I do not expect you to memorize everything in here. What I do expect you to do is at least skim over the pages and make sure you understand the basic drill movements. Please, if you have any questions ask Sgt. or me. That's what we are here for answering your questions.

I trust you all will have at least attempted to memorize this material and I want to thank you all ahead of time for putting in time and effort for memorizing what I have given you. Your hard work will pay off, but remember it is a group effort if there are two or three of you who don't pitch in to help memorize it will bring your flight down. If you have any questions feel free to contact either Sgt. or me. Sgt. email is removed@gmail.com, and mine is spammer@gmail.com.

Respectfully,
C/CMSgt.

Thats all I have for now.
