Nissan recall

I need help on what I should do. A day before finding out about the recall from dealership #2, dealership #1 performed scheduled maintenance ($650) without informing me about a recall. I contacted dealership #2 about it which took my truck in and said that if it can't be repaired, I would have to contact Nissan about a reimbursement. Well it can't be repaired and Nissan is telling me they don't do reimbursements and that the dealership would have to do so. What should I do? Is it too late to contact my credit card company since the bill has been paid already?

Why would you be asking for your money back for a scheduled maintenance they performed?

Also, how can a recall not be repaired? What the hells the point of announcing a recall then.

None of this really makes sense.

Let me take a WAG at this.
If OP had known the vehicle was under recall and possibly not repairable (????) he/she would not have had the PM performed at dealer 1 and not be out the $650?

Yeah, I'm assuming the maintenance is related in some way to the recall. The OP needs to clarify.

Or the OP felt it not in his best financial interest to dump $650 into an unrepairable vehicle?

That sounds plausible.
Although not likely that the dealership or Nissan would refund his/her money. They'd give him/her a new vehicle before they did that. And most likely refund the $650.
If that's the case the OP is better off dealing with Nissan to figure this out.
When my vehicle needed a a new transmission under warranty, the dealership had to get the approval for a replacement from Jeep before they would move forward. Since it was Jeep that had to foot the bill for the new trans, not the dealer.

to clarify, this is the recall
»www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/acms/docse···6429.pdf

this is right out of the recall notice posted above:

"DEALER RESPONSIBILITY
It is the dealer’s responsibility to check Service Comm for the campaign status on each vehicle falling within the range of this voluntary safety recall which for any reason enters the service
department."

I was NOT aware of the recall when I went in for scheduled service. The dealership did NOT mention the recall to me. The NEXT DAY I found out about the recall. At that point the dealership confirmed that there is a recall and took my truck. The dealership manager said that if the recall issue can't be repaired then Nissan will reimburse me for the scheduled service I had done the previous day. Turns out that my truck can't be fixed; Nissan said they don't do reimbursements and to contact the dealer. I haven't been able to get a hold of the dealership manager who told me about the reimbursement. Basically I spent $650 on work I should NOT have had done. The dealership did NOT tell me about a recall at the time of work. The dealership took my truck the NEXT day as it was deemed unfit to drive (How did the mechanics not even notice the damage when doing work on it?). The DEALERSHIP MANAGER told me that Nissan will reimburse me if need be.

I hope this clarifies the situation.

An RSC is different than a TSB. Generally, with an RSC, the dealer is obligated to check the vehicle within the scope of the recall (assuming both are Nissan dealerships).

I would reverse the payment for the $650 and let Nissan and the Dealership hash it out. Why should you have to deal with it on top of all the other issues?

Which dealer has your truck, the scoundrels or the informants?

I would suggest start with dealer 1, if they can't do anything, or refuse to, than do the chargeback and start dealing with Nissan.

I had a 2004 Nissan Murano. I took it in to the Dealership that I have always gone to. They have never told me about any recalls at all. One day, right after my oil change, the vehicle lost power all of sudden on the hwy exit and stalled!!

Come to find out, it was the recall that they never told me about...

Needless to say, they are not getting my business anymore.
