| [help] ATT dsl disconnect My friends dad just switched to ATT Dsl , he gets about 9 megs average, occasionally after a week of it running fine the connection drops... He called ATT and they came out and fixed the line. It still continues to happen, one tech told him that he needs to drop his connection speed to 6 megs because it is to fast coming into the house and causing the drops, another tech mentioned that because his house was wired with CAT 3 cable it may also cause some issues. I find both of these comments very odd as DSL typically runs through CAT 3, and i don't understand why dropping the speed would fix anything if it works fine for a week before he loses internet. Any thoughts ?? |

| It is a Motorola MIPDSLA, he gets 9.1 MB download average until it quits after a week or so... also they gave him a Linksys e1000 wireless router.... hope that is what you are looking for. |

run a dedicated home run just for the modem with cat5 and a whole house dsl filter see if that helps. It is possible for any cat3 line 2 interferer causing your problems. |
