Ford Focus, 120mph, concrete wall. Gut wrenching result.

That might hurt for about 68 milliseconds.

So they'll spend twenty grand on a car to crash but won't spend the money on real crash test dummies?

Real crash test dummies and the attendant instrumentation are far more expensive than that car.

Looks like they forgot to empty the fuel tank before this test. Fuel is pouring out of the back end after the crash.

That could have been coolant as well.
The engine was under the back seat by the end of the crash...

In real crash tests the vehicles are fueled. Checking for fuel leaks is part of the reason for the test.

Would they really use fuel or use water instead... ?

I'm curious to see how a high end full size sedan such as a Benz S500 would fare under the same conditions.

just a bigger piece of folded over metal in the end.

I'm sure it would be a more expensive piece of modern art as well.

World's fastest crash test is the mythbusters one with the rocket sled. Like the one for compact compact or one of the ones posted above.

I guess I should have said world's fastest realistic crash test. The one I posted is very real, and is something anyone with a halfway powerful car and a dull brain could do.

Why would it matter? They'd be annihilated.

Actually, they usually don't purchase the car. The manufacturer usually donates the car in exchange for the ability to send their engineers to watch the crash and to analyze it later on. It's a win/win for everyone.

Roadways are usually built in a way to minimize the possibility of full frontal collision. Usually it's trees or columns that get hit, and they are somewhat different from this.

They are also not built for vehicles traveling at 120mph.
