| HUGE taxes and fees! I just got my Vonage bill. I have the basic $24.99 service and two vanity numbers @ 4.99 each-which should total to $34.97. I pay $50.01
That means there's 15.04 in fees and taxes-a whopping 42% of my bill.
Vonage is no bargain any more. |

| Vonage is a good deal compared to regular phone service, POTS, and competitive with bundled cable-based phone services. If you really want a bargain you will likely find something more to your liking in the general voip world.
There you can pick from a service like Ooma (high initial price, very low monthly) to an independent provider like Callcentric (moderate-low startup, to buy an adapter, then low monthly) or even Google voice (no 911, but moderate-low startup for an adapter and free monthly).
If you want to go with voip you can post in »VOIP Tech Chat with your needs (start a thread, tell about the calls you make, whether you want/need unlimited or pay as you go, whatever. |

 | reply to qworster Except for the Regulatory, Compliance and Intellectual Property Fee $1.99, every thing else on my bill is state and local taxes.
Other carriers are also charging $1.99 |

Current Plan : $12.50 $12.50 month 12 Months Step Up to $24.99 U.S. and Canada Unlimited
then it drops down to like 19.34 a month.
If you cant do that tell them your doing to switch to different provider and I am sure they will switch it.

valvoj join:2002-01-23 Cicero, NY | The new plan is $12.50/mo for 6 months or $14.99 for 12 months. Once a year I call and get these discounted rates. Takes about 5 minutes. |
|
 | reply to qworster Well I was able to get the 12.50 back after I complained little bit more. |

 | reply to qworster Sounds almost as bad as having to call my cable provider all the time to get those "deals" which I hate having to do.
I simply pick the plan I want and just stick with it. Just reduced my plan from the World Plan ($35 and some change) to the 750 minute a month plan. Just got my first bill a few days ago. $25 and some change including taxes and fees. I can take that all day long compared to what I was paying JUST for the phone through Verizon/Frontier!!
$50 is a little high for something that you probably switched to, to save money on though. -- The Firefox alternative. »www.mozilla.org/projects/seamonkey/ |
