| Big Changes Coming to Clear I little birdie says...big changes are coming to Clear after midnight tonight. There's a certain San Antonio based WiMax website that describes what's coming. Not going to give a direct link, but googling wimax and san antonio should get you there quick enough. |

 | reply to Jet101 Is this going to effect existing customers? I'm not under contract. I am not paying 40 more dollars a month for my two services. I pay 60 for both now. |

CLEAR operates in their own little world. Their web site has now changed to reflect the new plans, but nothing about existing customers. Since many of their locations are so overloaded, they'll probably come up with something to drive some of that load away. |

 | reply to Jet101 When they upgrade their capacity and stop ignoring when customers call over network upgrades then someone like me would care. Until then no matter if they offered the service for free I wouldn't take it because it's useless. |

 | So ... it appears CLEAR is dropping its "voice" plans and moving to data only???
Personally, their home internet and voice plan is what sold me. $60 after all is said and done. With my land line provider, I was looking at $90 after all is said and done. I save $30 with CLEAR and get faster speeds than the 1.5 DSL could offer me.
There are some cons. Yes, I get "throttled" by CLEAR sometimes ... maybe once a month, but to get 6-15 down for the rest of the month ... I'm totally okay with that ... as the alternative is 1.5 DSL. For me, I can't fax with CLEAR worth beans. Out of 10 tries, I can get it to work maybe once. Again though, I only have the need to fax maybe once per month, so I go into work for that.
I will add though that if CLEAR starts charging $50 for the voice too though ... I will drop the voice ... just keep the data for $50 and go with Vonage or the like ... or swap back to DSL if the speeds have finally gone up in my area.
With AT&T starting to light up LTE now though ... and Verizon's LTE coverage at about 50% of the population already ... if I were looking for a "mobile" 4G option ... is certainly would NOT be CLEAR. |

I can't think of anytime that a Co. raised it's rates to slow it's own growth. The whole thing is just odd. |

 | I was thinking the same thing.
How does Clear expect to get any business here?
Clear does have going for it is "unlimited" ... and ... "no contract" ... I don't think that is enough when you through LTE against it.
Yes, LTE is tiered, but if you are using it for truly a "mobile" solution (as in not watching movies everyday) ... a $50 tiered "mobile" plan for LTE should be more than enough ... and then you throw in LTE speeds. If I were shopping for mobile, I would not be looking at CLEAR. |
