My phone keeps lighting up every 12 seconds

I posted this a while back:
»Phone keeps lighting up/resetting

and have since gotten a new Linksys PAP2 from viatalk after my old one fried. (they were pretty quick on getting the replacement to me at no charge)

Disabling MWI and VMWI on both lines has had no effect.

I made sure the PAP2 was provisioned by viatalk first before disabling provisioning and disabling those two services...

any thoughts?

edit: I should also note that I have just now deleted all my voicemails and disabled voicemail altogether with viatalk. still having the backlight of my phone light up every 12 seconds.

Since this started, have you tried using the phone on a non-ViaTalk line without it doing this?

Is it an option to contact the phone manufacture's customer service to see if they can tell you what would cause this to happen on a properly working phone? Clearly it doesn't seem to be related to VMWI indicator in this case.

You could try forcing the message waiting indicator off under user tabs.

Under status does Message waiting show "yes" and do you get the voicemail stutter tone? If not then maybe its not coming from pap2.

This brings back memories from several years ago when I bought a new 2-line Cortelco phone with a bunch of one-touch memories. I couldn't program the phone because it would reset every 30 seconds or so. IIRC, I had to set the message waiting refresh interval to 0 (zero). I don't believe turning off MWI had any effect on the problem. I believe I had to do this with both lines. Since I had provisioning turned on, I asked VT customer service to make the change in my profile (after testing it with provisioning turned off for a while!).

One of my phones does this too and been like this for years now. Tech Support said its the phone since none of my others are doing it.
