FBI - how does this work

got this email from FBI:

"I AM HERE TO HELP YOU, HAVE YOU LOST ANY OF YOUR MONEY TO SCAMMERS, GET BACK"

and wonder

a) who would take this seriously? Even for a spam, this is lousy

b) what is the intention or how does it work? There is no link to click, no website to check out - that one line is all.

Likely a failed email attempt by a beginning scammer.

Typically you get sucked in and then a restitution fee is requested. Or they ask for credentials and use your ID for Identity Theft. Either way it is best to JHD (just hit delete).

It's a solid idea....people on the distribution lists they have most likely have already been hit by scammers. It's just the absolute and total lack of execution that's saving us.

Personally I love the spam that comes in addressed to "name here" or "ADSF".

I don't even take a look any more at 419 spam - I can usually tell it is such from looking at the subject, and then I JHD.

I've seen a few Russian spams lately, but I had no idea what they were about, as I couldn't read what they said and had no clickable links anywhere in them.

Russian emails don't need links. They click you.
