[RANT] Freaking retroactive taxes....

Second week in a row that my taxes taken out of my check was close to 10x the normal amount. $330 this week and $330 last week. My wife gets paid every two weeks and she had over $550 taken out. This is absolutely ridiculous.....

Something is really messed up unless they have just started taking out the extra and they are playing catch-up or you make an obscene amount. I've seen a difference less than $50 when they stared few months ago, and I make a decent amount...

No obscene amount.
I work for a large financial firm in RI and I assume they may be playing catchup, but the kicker is I pay to RI and can apply that to CT taxes. So now I am paying into RI and now the increased amount to CT as well.

I just checked my 10/31 stub. CT took 22.7% of my gross (over 25% of my Fed taxable gross after pre-tax deductions). Wow...just wow.

ON a side note my wife just got back to work after having a baby. That means first paycheck after the retroactive deduction started.
Phuck you, one-term Malloy...

I will thank you. You may be over joyed to pay retroactive taxes but I am not. Don't you have a city to go Occupy?

There is an occupation in New Haven and Hartford. If you wish you may join us. I like that your paying a bit more in taxes. Benefits us all. Those roads in Putnam are not too shabby. Especially state road 21.

And the amount your paying in taxes is based on your high income.

No thank you, I prefer to work hard for the money I make, thank you. My wife and I do alright, thank you. But I have also been working hard over the years to achieve that. No hand outs here or forgiveness of debts or college loans. So how about you all decide to stop camping out and burdening the cities and towns that you are and contribute please. Much obliged.

The majority of the people in this country work hard for their money. The majority also do not have any hand outs or forgievness of college loans.

I bet your loans are nothing compared to a College Student now. Students in this State are graduating with 80k in Student Loans and getting jobs for 40k Starting if at all.

And if you went to a state school your college was subsidized(hand out)

Trust me I understand college is expensive. The babysitter for my daughter has a boyfriend that took a job installing carpet to pay his loans. I see him working, not sitting in a park banging in a drum circle wanting forgiveness of his loans. Playtime is over.
How about the 53% who pay federal income taxes?
Back on topic, you may enjoy retroactive taxes, I think it is borderline criminal.

Fixed it for ya...
Smart students start at a community college, they get only the transferable credits they need and then move to a university. And if they get good grades they get scholarships too... so maybe 40k in debt.
My wife graduated 5 years ago, her payments are a whole $253/mo - so $3k/yr (and the interest is tax-deductible), while the extra income her degree is bringing is probably $30k/year. The degree lasts a lifetime, payments will end in a couple of years.

New word on "Squawk Box" this morning-Ineptocracy (in-ept-o-cra-cy) – a system of government where the least capable to lead are elected by the least capable of producing, and where the members of society least likely to sustain themselves or succeed, are rewarded with goods and services paid for by the confiscated wealth of a diminishing number of producers.

So far over the last three weeks I have paid over $930 in CT income tax where normally it would have been $70 or so. Freaking ridiculous.

That's the leading failure of democracy over the course of history. You get folks who promise the world for doing very little. People who do little vote for the promisers. Then the money runs out.

Look at the bright side: effective January 1st, "our taxes go down"!

(Yes, that actually used a guaranteed future "tax decrease" as a selling point for this...yes, really...)
