 | Modem Levels My Motorola 5120 modem readings are: Downstream SNR=38dB, Downstream Power Level=19 dBmV (should be 15 to -15; optimal 8 to -8), and Upstream Power Level=26 dBmV. Downstream power seems a little high, not sure what is causing that. It had been 14-15 dBmV until I recently ran a dedicated line from my outdoor box to the modem (RG-6) and removed all splitters and diplexers. My upstream power went from 36dBmv to 26 after I installed the dedicated line. Internet speeds are good (10MB download) but pages seem a little slow opening and completing. Should I be concerned about these readings? |

That downstream power is a little hot, and your upstream power is low. With it that low, the headend could have trouble deciphering your modems signal from the noise.
I would hook it back up the old way. -- Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today.

 | I separated my lines; one for cable modem directly to the cable box outside, the other a direct line to an HD satellite dish. I thought it would be better to have a direct line from the cable box to the modem without any splits? Also, I did that since DirecTV said they could not do HD with a diplexer to separate sat and cable. Tonight, my downstream is 22dBmV. Could it be anything in the outside box or on Metrocast end? |

The levels coming from the line are high like what your seeing to make up for splits/line loss in the house. -- Dream as if you'll live forever, live as if you'll die today.

 | So, nothing to worry about or call a tech out for? |

The cable internet comes into the basement and I have it going to the cable modem directly. DirecTv comes into the house and into a SWM which splits the DirectTv so I only need one coax connection instead of two. |
