Nope was because I remembered Shepard, Grissom, Glenn as 1 - 2- 3 of the Mercury missions.
But you are correct, he didn't make it into space, Mercury 2 like 1 was also sub-orbital, Glenn made it in 3.
By Apollo with 3 crew members, names started to accumulate and blurr, wouldn't be till Armstrong and Aldrin (moon walkers) that my memory is very clear again.
