2 edits | switch connected to bridge modem My modem, which is currently set to bridge mode, has a built in 4 port switch. When using dynamic IP addressing with fusion, I noticed that I get dynamic IPs for my router and another computer that I had left on the switch. I tried using the internet with a computer connected to the router and a computer connected to the switch and both worked. I thought that customers only get 1 dynamic IP issued at a time, but this does seem to be the case. According to the site »sonic.net/features/staticip :
"The illustration to the right shows a network configuration that is only possible with multiple static IP addresses. "
But it seems to work with dynamic IP addresses as well. Will users incur a fee for having more than 1 dynamic IP at a time? |

| At a command prompt, run 'ipconfig -all' on each computer, and post your result. It doesn't sound like your modem is bridged, but the 'ipconfig -all' result will tell for sure.

| reply to zento I seem to remember a reply from Dane in the past that the one dynamic IP per customer rule was not enforced (I think he mentioned to aid customers migrating from an ISP that permits multiple dynamic IPs).
I don't think you will incur a fee for that, but you should be aware (and it seems you are) that Sonic could restrict you to one dynamic IP at some point if they want to. -- Got some spare cpu cycles ? Join Team Helix or Team Starfire! |

DaneJasperSonic.NetPremium,VIP join:2001-08-20 Santa Rosa, CA kudos:9 | Our current dynamic IP allocation scheme allows for up to five dynamic IPs allocated per customer. This may change from time to time, but the goal is to make delivery of service seamless.
