TreebarkPremium join:2010-03-04 Havelock, NC kudos:1 | MW3 So, Monday night this is coming out, getting it at midnight and really looking forward too it. What does everyone think so far from what vids are out there on multiplayer?
I don't know about the whole dog tag recovery thing after you kill someone, will have to wait until I play it to talk about it. |

GoggalorPsychonautPremium join:2009-06-09 Your Mind! kudos:1 | I really want to look forward to this, but after not picking up BF3 and still worrying about my backlog of other games, I just don't see myself picking this up. Even though, I have beat CoD 2, MW1, MW2, and Black Ops all on Veteran, I have not heard of anything that will make this a must buy day one purchase.
Maybe I'm just getting tired of FPSs. |

TreebarkPremium join:2010-03-04 Havelock, NC kudos:1 | I have had MW2 just after the release and it was the first FPS I have really got into since Splinter Cell on XBOX like 7 years ago. I have not even played the campaign mode, just the multiplayer.
edit: I can't even remember if Splinter Cell was 1st or 3rd person shooter. |

GoggalorPsychonautPremium join:2009-06-09 Your Mind! kudos:1 | The entire Splinter Cell series has always been third person.
I have always done the CoD series campaign on Veteran because it provided a decent challenge for the most part (I'm looking at you, infinite respawns and bullshit timer for Mile High). |

| reply to Treebark Not buying. It's been the same thing since COD4. $60 for game plus multiple $15 map packs each game when it's entirely the same thing with each iteration. The only difference is the content itself, the back end including graphics, engine, sounds etc is all pre-2007, not to mention the horde of idiots the multiplayer seems to attract. There's better out there at this point...it's 2011. -- Core i7 920 @ 3.5ghz | OCZ Obsidian 6GB 1600mhz DDR3 RAM | EVGA X58 tri SLI-LE mobo | EVGA GTX 570 | Antec 750w PSU | OCZ Vertex 2 120GB SSD | WD Black 1TB HDD | Antec 1200 Case | G15 keyboard | G9x mouse | G35 Headset | Asus 23" LED-LCD |

| reply to Treebark I pre-ordered when Newegg had it for $48. If it ships on Monday night, I should have it by Tuesday afternoon.
I really liked MW2, so if MW3 is more of the same with a few tweaks and a semi-decent story, I'll probably enjoy it. -- "Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats." - H. L. Mencken

Yep, nothing has changed except with each game especially MW2 when it comes to cheaters/hackers/boosters and the LIVE community in ranked rooms can be rather atrocious. I have tired of the same old same old. BF3 has more replay value IMO with alot more variety when it comes to warfare. COD ends up the same routes and repetitive maps and people camping for killstreaks, etc. I am not donating another dime to IW. |

C0deZer0Oc'D To Rhythm And PolicePremium join:2001-10-03 Davenport, FL | reply to Treebark It's been the same engine since CoD4, which is (much to my surprise) idTech3... that's the Doom 3 engine under all of that.
My biggest gripe with MW3 is the fact that Activision/IW are bastardizing the campaign/story/singleplayer in favor of basically turning the multiplayer into a for-pay MMO (map packs, and more recently the CoD "Elite" thing).
I've only ever played Call of Duty for the campaign. And the campaign of 4 was brilliant... short, yes; but it was amazing quality that made me realize how bored I was with WW2-era shooters. Then they went right back to WW2 with W@W, and completely bastardized the story and any plot coherence in MW2. Unless the campaign of MW3 is drastically better (at least to the level of CoD4, if not surpassing it), I have zero desire to even bother picking it up from Redbox or anything. -- Because, f*ck Sony |

| reply to Treebark I am not a fan of the multiplayer, and this is coming from a guy who loves playing online. The campaign for all the COD games are excellent. My choice of multiplayer for a war game is Battlefield 3. I will eventually rent this game and play the campaign but the mutliplayer turned me off in MW2 with all the glitches at launch and how once they did fix it, everyone and their grandmother still camped looking to get their perks. -- Mets, Cowboys, Devils |

| I will be renting this to play the campaign, as in my opinion, Call of Duty always has some of the best campaigns in shooter games. But, I'm not interested at all in the multiplayer. I was a diehard Call of Duty fan when the very first one came out for the PC, I played online all the time, but then I found Battlefield 1942, and I've used Battlefield games for my FPS multiplayer fix ever since. MW2 and Blackops multiplayer made me sad in the pants -- Finally, LTE! | reply to Treebark all i can say is that modern warfare 3 better bring more than just 60fps or i think battlefield will take the title imo. |

| reply to Treebark One thing I don't get. People complain about camping in MW but the maps are so small and designed in such a way that killing campers is not that difficult. Most buildings have 2 or more entrances, and the spots that people set up in usually have more than 1 approach to cover. Plus the maps are small and there are a bunch of ranged and explosive, area-effect weapons that can either flush a camper or kill them outright.
I'll occasionally complain about a camper while I'm playing, but then I kill them or assist a teammate in killing them, and keep on playing. It doesn't seem like that big of a deal.
I feel the camping in BF3 to be a bigger problem, especially with the size of the maps and uneven spotting system. -- "Every normal man must be tempted, at times, to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats." - H. L. Mencken
