device software update

I noticed a software update was pushed to my Home Modem with Wifi the other morning. The only obvious change was the addition of IP Passthrough functionality.

the new menu option:
-------------------------
IP Passthrough is a useful feature if a host computer or server on the Local Area Network needs to have access into it from the internet with a real public IP address. With IP Passthrough configured, all IP traffic, not just TCP/UDP, is forwarded back to the host computer. This can be necessary with certain types of software that do not function reliably through Network Address Translation.

IP Passthrough []Enable [X]Disable
IP Passthrough Type []Auto []Manual
IP Passthrough MAC []:[]:[]:[]:[]:[]
----------------------------

I set this up on my main Linux box, and what it does is set the IP address of the computer to the public IP of the router instead of to a 192.168.15.XX Unfortunately, this also blocks access to the router at 192.168.15.1 from the re-configured computer. Marginally useful IMHO.

Anyone else notice this change? Any information about what else under the hood has been changed?

Bob
