 | information for android users! well i live kinda in middle of nowhere i get good verizon 3g
coverage but i have a virgin mobile 3g phone witch is
sprint...anyway i had the problem of my 3g dropping to 1X but
after some reading online i found a code you enter into your dial
pad....it allows you to lock your phone into EVDO (3G) only .....this
works on any android phone far as i know the code is
*#*#4636#*#* after you enter that a menu will pop up click the first
menu "phone information" if i'm not mistaken....then you can scroll
down to the drop box will say gsm only or something like that open
drop box then click EVDO now your phone is in 3g only and is
pretty much just a 3g modem on my optimus V i can't receive calls
or txt while in this mode....but if ur in an area with flakey signal
like me with 1-0 bars put it in EVDO mode you can browse
somewhat decent and also if u tether to ur laptop or pc
works just like one of those modems would i been watching 30min tv episodes and so on....
also if you want to download large file to your phone but lack signal locking into 3g mode works great i just downloaded a 1gig file to my phone and transferd it to my pc
but keep in mind you will not be able to make or recive calls should mainly be used in a low signal area where 1X is an issue...
*note* android 2.2.1 or older is required to tether 2.2.2 or newer blocks that feature (as far as i know) and if your not sure how to tether all you need to do is download PDANET 3.0 off the market and follow instructions very easy took me like 2min and was using my phone to browse on pc....hope this imformation will help someone! |
