On November 2nd, 2011, I encountered a Verizon contractor installing fiber under my driveway. So it looks as though FiOS may be available here at some point. We live on Hamilton Station Road on the Waterford side of Route 9, west of Leesburg, VA where they already have FiOS.

Jim, I also live on HSR and discovered the same thing, but am unable to find out if it is indeed for FIOS and when the service might actually be available. Talked with Loudoun County Broadband department and they were not aware of the installation. Hope it is soon as my current BB is marginal at best!

When I encountered the crew working at the end of the driveway, I said to one of the guys, "I hope that you're putting in fiber." The guy said that was what they were doing and that we would be able to get FiOS. When, of course, is the open question.

When talking with the LC Broadband person, Wendy Wickens, she mentioned that Verizon includes the install of 150' from their fiber line, do you have any idea how they would charge for a longer run? Sure wish Verizon would "presell" the service so we had someone to talk to.

I am certainly more than 150' from the hub/line on ROW and no special charge... I don't think there is a special charge - your property is either serviceable or it isn't.....

Here's your community page: »www22.verizon.com/about/communit···dex.html .FTTP construction link at the bottom. I don't see you on the list, so they're probably trunks going in right now.

I really have no idea regarding any charge for drops that are longer than 150' from the main fiber line. But I do recall that they charged nothing extra for the copper drop that was installed here when we built the place many years ago. We are 1/4 mile from the main road. My guess is that the charge is negotiable. Zero is always a good place to start. I used to be in the cable-TV business, so I've seen it from the other side. Remember that they want to make a sale for the long-term.

The Hamilton Station Road work is currently underway and I believe started in October, The community site construction list was only through September, do you know how often they update it?

The community Construction page for Virginia has had a "coming soon" page for for quite some time now. Has anyone heard or know how to find out whats planned?

Yeah, I've noticed the "coming soon" listed there for a few months. This is the longest I've ever seen with no sites listed. Wonder what's going on? I usually check every month and new sites are listed.
