I do my part.
I spend, probably, several hours every day using Netflix... well, most days--instead of TV [OTA--maybe 3 hours per week]. The thing is, most of the stuff on Netflix is DVD-quality, which still looks pretty good; some is worse (Starz stuff mostly), some is better (newer HD stuff). My typical bandwidth usage is somewhere short of 100GB each month (about 130 being the most since I joined Netflix). Over time the HD content will increase, I expect, but for now it would be rather hard for someone to use 300+GB per month using Netflix unless you were specifically seeking out all HD content [and only HD content] to watch. (Of course, there are other places than Netflix which offer HD content.)
And, yes, there
is no such thing as a "data hog" (nor is there an "exaflood"). Whatever someone uses, they paid for it and have a right to use it. It's not even possible to "hog" bandwidth on packet-based networks, especially those with speed caps.
