Buyer Beware: SF Sonic Fusion - Unreliable serviceReaching the end of the line...
I don't think Sonic did enough homework before they decided to tackle the logistics of working on San Francisco AT&T POTS.
Here is a brief history of my experience with Sonic Fusion Service.
It took 3 trips from AT&T and 2 from Sonic before Dual Bonding/Fusion service was working at a functional level (30 Mbps downstream). The service box to my house is my backyard, so each service call required me to stay home and let them through the house. Aside from missing work, I also spent 130 bucks on a contractor to install new internal wiring....
Once up and (apparently) stable, my connectivity would disconnect once a certain threshold was reached. After more service calls (from both AT&T and Sonic) and a lengthy email chain that lasted months, AT&T found the issue was from the telephone pole. The problem was, the pole in question was in my neighbor's backyard.
Instead of sending out a Sonic or AT&T service rep, I was asked by Sonic support to get permission from my neighbors (who lived around the corner and I had never met) to get availability/permission for AT&T access through their home and yard. When I knocked on their door and asked for access on behalf of Sonic on behalf on AT&T, they rightfully looked at me like I was crazy...I mean, I really couldn't believe it myself....
This issue was finally fixed - without the need for neighbor access...
3 or so months went by pretty smooth - only the occasional hiccup.
And now...
In the past month or so - one of my fusion lines has gone down. If it was only half the speed (11-15Mbps down) it would not have been a problem. The issue is that there is so much noise on Line A - it disrupts service to Line B. Line B then only gives less than 1 Mbps due to the static of Line A.
I have had 2 service calls (for this issue) from AT&T for this in the past month, again missing work to let these guys through my house. The last time, the AT&T guy actually told me: "you may get this again in 2-3 weeks, as they are replacing the problem area of the line permanently then"..
Just as the AT&T guy predicted, the problem is back.
Maybe I get to meet and greet some new neighbors!

Interesting. If that had happened here, there would have been no need for me to stay home. While the pole is in a neighbor's yard, easiest access is through my yard. No dogs in the yard, no lock on the gate; no need for somebody to meet the tech at the door.
Also, AT&T replaced the aerial F2 span in this neighborhood barely over a year ago. You are dependent on the quality of the AT&T plant. | | AndrewR join:2011-11-06 Santa Rosa, CA |

Quintas,
I'm sorry to hear that you have had such a difficult time with the Fusion service and that the issues have re-appeared. If you provide your user name I can try and track this down and see what's going on with the line.
Thank you, | |
