| [SERIOUS] Norwich woman vs banana You folks heard about this? »www.norwichbulletin.com/governme···cqqcVxqY
She claims that a produce sticker for 1 banana got stuck to her sleeve. Then when she went to self checkout, the sticker for the banana gets scanned accidentally for every item.
Does she think we're all stupid?
And get this, her husband is a Probate Judge in Norwich. Her court date has been delayed twice so that it won't happen before election day this Tuesday (so it won't hurt her chances to get elected to the Board of Ed). -- "The entire process is simply a game in which voters transfer power back and forth between the two wings of what is really just one big political party; the Statist Party" - Jacob G. I did see that in the Bulletin- absolutely ridiculous! I was hoping that would show up in yahoo odd news, but it never did. Gotta love a story like that. |

| reply to Harddrive A little off topic - the local Stop & Shop had rib eyes priced wrong at pennies per lb. We're talking an inch thick by 5 or 6 inches wide rib eyes for under a dollar each. During the checkout, we pointed out this pricing issue to the register girl, who proceeded to go off on us about something or other. Not being one who wanted to upset the poor dear any further, I went back and got another dozen, and clued my wife's uncle to the "sale" on his way in. |

Dead freakin' last. |

 | reply to cowboyro Actually, S&S has a few scales within the produce area that you can print out. They seem to like the whole "do it yourself cashiering" thing there. |

I'm willing to bet they generate a unique code for scanning - since the code is linked to the item + quantity + price... and any programmer who isn't completely braindead would put a lock to prevent scanning the same item twice. |

If you use the stop n shop wand, you can scan just about everything (except the cold salad bar, and for some reason discount thanksgiving turkey). It is possible to put bananas on a scale, enter the PLU, and get a barcode with the price of the bunch you picked.
Though the article stated she didn't pay. If I had hundreds of bananas in an order, before paying, I'd review the register tally. -- "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use." |

Only I'd bet that you can only scan the barcode ONCE, further scans would be rejected. |
