I have a dlink 2100 ap, my problems is that i am not able to detect a network. If i do a survey with my laptops wireless i find it, if i survey with my dlink i can't. The network is a 802.11g network, i tried diffrent channels, country settings... all the same could not detect it with my dlink.
The radio transmittor/receiver of a router is different from the laptop transmitter/receiver. The router receiver input from the WAN and transmit/receiver through another part of the router. It cannot see the WAN network, or you have to open your router to the public or use it as an access point router with another main router in order to see the other network. The laptop receiver/transmittor can see the nearby network and access to it.
You did not say if you have a WIRED ROUTER also. My setup is a wired router with my desktop hooked up to it. Then my ACCESS POINT is hooked up to one of the LAN PORTS of my wired router.
Does that help.
