Re: Someone Please Slap Me - Signed Up With Vonage Again!

Vonage isn't really that expensive. But if you want super cheap, go with a different provider. Of course, you will sacrifice quality and reliability.

Go to the VoIP forum and read all the problems that people have with the cheaper VoIP providers, even though all of them combined probably don't have as many customers as Vonage.

That blanket statement isn't quite true, as some providers are almost never mentioned because they are so reliable. I had Vonage for quite a while and now am with Callcentric. I never had technical issues with either provider, both were reliable, clear and the calls just worked.

If I'd found that I'd sacrificed either quality or reliability I'd have gone back, but it's been 100% the same for those two atributes.

Another thing to consider: the feature set each provider offers. For me the Callcentric features worked better for my situation, so all in all it was a better fit. Not knocking Vonage, others may find they need those exact features, too.

Plus some providers are BYOD or offer BYOD device which is a learning experience. Also, some complaints are more I want this or that feature etc.
Plus a lot of people just asking which is better.
So between new BYOD users and experienced users tweaking or playing with different things you will see more that could be called complaints.
You are really not going to see how do a set up asterisk or freeswitch in the Vonage forum. Also, not how to use an OBI for free GV calls and other neat tricks. How to use multiple providers etc.

Well first of all let me tell you fax service does not perform well with any VoIP service. After this, I guess you have definitely made a high cost deal. Just check Axvoice's $8.25 plan (»www.axvoice.com/plans/residentia···ada.html), you would realize this.

I am surprised to see you did not have a look at the other provider's websites. You should have talked to live chat support of a few providers. You could sign up when they had cleared everything to you.

Believe me, from other providers, you can get unlimited incoming and out going calls with far better features at the same price. Even now, if Vonage offers any money back guarantee, you can cancel with them and switch to some better option.

Again, don’t sign up with any big gun until you are completely satisfied. Look before you "sign up" instead of crying after sign up.
