 | Yes, I felt a gentle back and forth sway for about 10 seconds, and it rattled a piece furniture that has a lose door. -- Proud Member of Team Discovery |

Well I didn't grow up on it, but I was in LA for the major quake back in 1971, I lived on or near the fault line for over 20 years in various living time in CA and have lived through quite a few quakes (World series quake of 1989 rings a small bell.. My commute was on 880.. I am not sure why living on the fault would make you miss the outliers from a 5.6 quake. -- da Cajun Darn I hate Malware |

OmenQSpazzPremium join:2003-03-21 Continuum | I used to sleep through small-mid quakes all the time. The 1994 Northridge quake was the last big one before I moved out of CA. I lived in Palmdale, within a few hundred yards of the fault. If it was more than 100 miles away, or less than a 5.0, I never noticed it, and believe me that the tremors traveled along the fault line very well.
The quake on Saturday night was nearly 200 miles away from me. A little shimmy like what could have been felt here just doesn't register with me. Maybe I just ignored it out of habit, even though the last quake I recall feeling was 10 years ago in Seattle. Then again, that was a 6.8, and much closer to me.
Just my experience. YMMV. -- Cogito Ergo Nom |
