[Help Me] Router help

hi, thank you in advance for anyone helping me.

I wish to connect di-624 to my main (one with internet in ethernet port) to a Thompson TG782T. i wish to connect these two via wireless (to save an ethernet cord running through my main room)

please help, i've tried to do things myself but i'm not having much luck atm

Also i believe i know the Thomson pretty well, its the d-link that i believe is the culprit and I'm not familiar with the d-link

I see the default IP of the Thompson is 192.168.1.254

and the Dlink default IP is 192.168.0.1

so that shouldn't be a problem...

Ideally you would want to put the Thompson in bridge mode, so the public IP you get from your ISP is assigned directly to the Dlink, your ISP may not allow this however.

Ensure the Dlink WAN port is connected to the Thompson's LAN port. Also ensure the Dlink is set to dynamic IP address as seen here:
»support.dlink.com/emulators/di624/h_wan.html
this will allow it to get an IP from the Thompson

Restart both by unplugging, plug in the Thompson first, allow it to boot for 30 seconds or so, then plug in the Dlink, allow it to boot for 30 seconds or so.

You should be able to plug into a LAN port on the Dlink, and configure it using »192.168.0.1

thanks for the reply supergeeky. the default ip of the Thompson is 10.0.0.138. and "Ensure the Dlink WAN port is connected to the Thompson's LAN port" does that mean i have to have an ethernet cable to both, because i'm using wireless with the thompson i just want to connect the d-link to it, so i dont have a cable running through my dining room :P

oh... so you want the Dlink to be a wireless client of the Thompson...

No, you can't do that... The DI-624 is an access point/router and does not provide and other wireless functions (eg bridge, client, repeater)

If you want to do that, you'd need something different...
