| [RANT] COMCAST refuses to credit taxes I called Comcast to get the residential TV credit. At first I tried the "Comcast Live Chat". I was told that since I didn't put in a ticket, there was no way to track any outage so they could not refund. The "live agent" offered 6 months of HBO for $10. WTF. But it is fun phrasing the sentences to confuse the bot .
Then I called the live person. I was offered $20 credit for 8 days. I said my bill is 84.30. There are 30 days in November, that makes the credit $22.48. She told me they can't credit taxes/fees/other charges because the taxes are not their charges. Needless to say, it never got anywhere.
Granted, this is only $2.48, but multiply that by how many people?? I plan on going the retention specialist route tomorrow, as none were available this evening.

| Without looking at a Comcast bill, I believe CT levies two taxes on cable - gross receipts then sales tax on top of that - a tax on a tax at that.
One would think the next bill should be mathematically correct in terms of credit shown vs. tax levied, but that's not to say they don't need another call or two anyway. Whole body sobbing could help too. If y'ax me, nothing less than an unlocked HD DVR box free for life can soothe the emotional scars they've inflicted.
I'm reminded of CL&P sending out high estimated bills. I always felt that was a cash grab move, but what do I know? (I imagine Binkydoodle will be along shortly to correct me.) I would pay the usual amount, and they would charge me interest on the unpaid portion of the high estimate - an artificial number to begin with. |
