Re: Worth repeating - corporations don't pay taxes-customers do said by Linklist:Always this big brouhaha over corporations paying or not paying taxes. It is worth repeating that it is the customers of these companies who pay the taxes thru higher prices. Anyone cheering for corporations paying higher taxes are really just cheering to pay more taxes themselves - unless you are one of those very few people who never buy any product or service. So business should have to pay ZERO taxes? Do you think that will actually to to lower prices or higher pay? Nope. You repubs all think alike. Business and millionaires and billionaires shouldn't pay a dime and everyone else should support their lifestyles. Funny thing is you aint rich. And guess what supporting the rich won't make them let you into their little club. You aint part of the club you will NEVER be a part of the club. FUCK THEM. |

Millionaires are far to busy to be posting here. You rich? PROOF or shut up. And if you are. Too bad if you have to pay more taxes. You get the most benefit from America being a free country and you have the most to lose so you SHOULD pay more. Do you think it cost nothing to keep this country free? I like it how millionaires are upset by having to pay a few more $$$ in taxes and are still millionaires. Meanwhile the fighting men and women risking their LIVES so the rich can stay rich have to get on foodstamps just to get by. |

You have no understanding of taxation or profits, or even accounting for that matter! |

| reply to BF69 Actually, I believe he IS rich for two reasons...
First because no one actually believes that crap. The only ones pushing it are either CEOs/Shareholders or paid corporate propagandists. His arguments aren't substantial enough to believe he is the latter.
Second, he obviously sits at home and waits to be the first poster to these topics. Who else could do that but someone who is filthy rich? |

A very common right wing talking point which they are told to vomit up anytime taxes are discussed. The part they DON'T tell you is that this is only income tax. Tax revenue is also made up substantially of FICA which the top 1% contribute next to nothing.
If the top 1% are paying 40% of the income tax revenue, who is paying the other 60%? |

 | reply to amarryat said by amarryat:The top 1% of wage earners make 20% of all the money and pay 40% of all the taxes. So they're already paying a few more $$$ in taxes. God I hate this math trick. When one man has $1, and another has $1000, even if you tax the poor man at 100% and the rich man at 1%, the rich man ends up paying 99.9% of the budget.
The reason the rich pay such a high % of *federal income tax* is they have so much more money than everyone else. 50% of people make so little money they fall beneath the lowest federal income tax bracket. They still pay state, local, gas, payroll, estate taxes, etc., but they don't count in the federal budget.
All you have to do is look at how corporations are paying a lower and lower portion of the federal budget relative to GDP, and the wealth has been transferred to ultra wealthy over the last 30 years.
Either you don't know this already or you are trying to spread a lie. I don't know which one, but I hope it's the former. |

| It's not a math trick.
Do you think that when you go to the grocery store, your income should be analyzed and based on what you earn, a loaf of bread will be priced accordingly? If you like that kind of government, move to a communist country where all the peasants are the same. |

Math alert! The rich man was taxed at 1% of $1000, so he paid $10. The poor man was taxed at 100% of $1, so he paid $1. Thus, the total amount of tax paid to the government was $11 of which the rich man paid $10, so he paid 90.9% of total taxes, not 99.9%
Just sayin' |
