Have your issues ever been resolved or at least improved? I'm thinking of switching from Frontier DSL to Mediacom and an curious about how the speeds are in Le Roy now. I had Mediacom years ago and their broadband service was really good, but just got too expensive for me. Now I could use a little more bandwidth than the 3MB DSL service from Frontier.

 | I'm about 15 miles from there and had speed problems around that time too. The speed did improve.
Aren't you close enough to get 7 Meg DSL with Frontier?
You should be able to try cable internet with Mediacom and cancel within 30 days if it doesn't meet your needs (check with your sales rep). |

My wife called Frontier back in November to bump up to their 7 Mb service, but they said it wasn't available. Years ago I had some DSL issues and the local Verizon techs said I was under 1500 ft to the CO, so distance should not be a problem.

 | I haven't run a speed test for a month or two. I just ran one and got 10.4/.91 and I have the 12/1 package. Not too bad. I ran one to a different server and got 11.81/.93.
Frontier seems to be trying to sign people up for slow speed low cost service and not go after the faster tiers. Too bad -- they could gain some customers every time a cable company has performance problems. |

Too bad -- they could gain some customers every time a cable company has performance problems. I had Mediacom HSI for 2 years. It was extremely un-reliable. When I would complain about NO service, the CSR would tell me they would send a service tech in a day or 2. This was not isolated events either, it happened regularly. 2 years of Total Frustration on my part. IMO, Not having internet for a day or 2 is totally unacceptable in todays world.
I switched to Frontier DSL 3mbs Internet. I get the speed I pay for. It is not as fast as Mediacom but it has been very reliable and frustration free.
Make no mistake, I want faster Internet and am willing to pay a higher price for it. I am not however, willing to put up with a company that disregards the paying customer after they get them in a contract. |

 | reply to McBain Hey McBain!
Wow...sorry for the late reply. I've not checked the boards in a while.
Some improvement...but it hasn't been great. I'm pulling down 3-6+ Mbps tonight. Still less than what I'd like to see, but enough to stream Netflix

Chad said the new headend has been installed and they should have had everything done by today. |
