dlink dIR655 cant connect

lately I havent been able to connect wirelessly to my dlink through a computer or any wireless device. I have tried looking through settings and fix a few things like the router clock and channel frequency. It works sometimes when I reboot the network but only for like a day or 2. I am trying not to reconfigure it from scratch if at all possible. Thanks!

FYI dir is running latest firmware 1.32
pc's are all Windows 7

Let me know if you need more info!

It is the sign of a deterring router. Do you enable the wirelss in "always" mode? Do not use the auto channel scan, use a fixed channel such as 6 or 11. I disabled the QoS and use the FIFO (first in first out) data transfer instead of the QoS (quality of service with priority). I also reboot the router at least once a day to clear up the buffer.

FW 1.32 has such wireless problem. I would save the system setting and use FW A4 1.33NA/1.31EU/1.34EU.

The QoS could be a bottle neck of the router to restrict the priority of the data transfer and it could cause the wireless signal drop. My DIR-655 is about a year old. The chip set temperature could cause the early aging of the router. I keep on switching the firmware until I stay with the A4 1.34EU from the Dlink UK site.

See the firmware revision info below:

Firmware 1.35NA 12/28/2010
Revision Info: ¤ Removed Securespot Feature.
Firmware 1.34NA 5/20/2010
Revision Info: ¤ Fixed: Bsecure Issue.
Firmware 1.33NA 1/28/2010

¤ Fixed: DNS relay issue ( WAN Slowdown )
¤ Added: Advanced DNS descriptions
Firmware 1.32NA 7/20/2009
Revision Info: ¤ Fix when disable DHCP server and enable DHCP server, LAN PC cannot get IP.
¤ Fix using wireless client to configure Access Control rules, cause DUT reboot.
¤ Fix UPnP bug.
¤ Disable CAPTCHA by default

In order to use fw 1.34EU, you have to upload fw 1.31EU and then upload fw 1.34EU.

You can downgrade from 1.34 EU back to 1.31EU back to US fw.

I plan to update the FW but why is it that I have to downgrade to upgrade?

DIR-655 sometimes can't take any firmware. Once you loaded 1.31EU, the router can take any firmware.
