| dlink dIR655 cant connect lately I havent been able to connect wirelessly to my dlink through a computer or any wireless device. I have tried looking through settings and fix a few things like the router clock and channel frequency. It works sometimes when I reboot the network but only for like a day or 2. I am trying not to reconfigure it from scratch if at all possible. Thanks!
FYI dir is running latest firmware 1.32 pc's are all Windows 7

slpip3 join:2007-02-20 Springfield, VA | It is the sign of a deterring router. Do you enable the wirelss in "always" mode? Do not use the auto channel scan, use a fixed channel such as 6 or 11. I disabled the QoS and use the FIFO (first in first out) data transfer instead of the QoS (quality of service with priority). I also reboot the router at least once a day to clear up the buffer.
FW 1.32 has such wireless problem. I would save the system setting and use FW A4 1.33NA/1.31EU/1.34EU. |

slpip3 join:2007-02-20 Springfield, VA 1 edit | The QoS could be a bottle neck of the router to restrict the priority of the data transfer and it could cause the wireless signal drop. My DIR-655 is about a year old. The chip set temperature could cause the early aging of the router. I keep on switching the firmware until I stay with the A4 1.34EU from the Dlink UK site.

hussle87Premium join:2008-01-06 Sykesville, MD | reply to hussle87 just tried to upload the new FW but it didnt take. and I tried to have the router look for new firmware but it said I was up to date. I uploaded the bin file to the router was that right? |

slpip3 join:2007-02-20 Springfield, VA | In order to use fw 1.34EU, you have to upload fw 1.31EU and then upload fw 1.34EU.
You can downgrade from 1.34 EU back to 1.31EU back to US fw. |

hussle87Premium join:2008-01-06 Sykesville, MD | reply to hussle87 I plan to update the FW but why is it that I have to downgrade to upgrade? |
|
slpip3 join:2007-02-20 Springfield, VA | DIR-655 sometimes can't take any firmware. Once you loaded 1.31EU, the router can take any firmware. |
