small portable AM/FM digital radio for mom...

Can anyone recommend any am/fm small portable digital radio OR good reception player - that's easy enough for my mom to use?

Thank you...

Re: small am/fm digital radio for mom...

What you want is a USB-based AM/FM tuner. I used to have a radioSHARK for recording hockey games while I was gone (at work). Griffin no longer makes this product, AFAIK. I'm certain there are some generic products you can find out there which do the same thing though!

You definitely want it external, as the antenna would cause all sorts of interference if it was an internal card (PCI, etc.).

Are you looking for a pocket radio mp3 player?
For mp3 and fm you can get a Sansa Clip+. I have 2. Very reliable and really cheap. Around $25. You can expand the memory with microSD cards.

I love these -

but
#1 they do not have AM

#2 the FM quality is not as good as of bigger Sansa brothers or other players...

#3 it's screen is too small for my mom to see

but thx,
maybe something else comes to mind?

Damn! sorry I'm late to answer.

But I've got one of these that I use and love it. Sony SRF-M37W Walkman

Dimensions: 2.5 x 1.3 x 3.4 inches

Digital AM/FM/Weather stereo tuner
Direct weather and preset access buttons
20-station preset memory
Digital LCD digital with clock and battery indicators
Headphones and belt clip included

The weather band sucks in my area

I picked up one of these for power failures and emergencies. Great reception and surprisingly good sound.
