 | bellsouth.net password change?? Hello,
I cannot change my bellsouth.net password. I followed instructions on ATT Support site but password only changed for my att account, it did not change for my bellsouth.net email account. I need to change asap because spammers have accessed it and now are sending mail through it.
All links through yahoo just take me back to att support page.
THANKS!! |

| I tried a password reset for another ATTIS domain (pacbell.net), and was routed to AT&T pages. I am not, now, an AT&T customer, and can't go farther. Is there no telephone support? You have reset your PPPoE password, but still need to do something about your E-mail password. Odds are, your hijacker has changed security questions and password reset e-mail address. I don't think you can recover it without the help of telephone support. Wish I could remember the number I used when trying to reset a relative's e-mail password. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

THANKS!! I have a suggestion if they haven't already changed your bellsouth email password.
Go to yahoo.com and sign-in on that page using your bellsouth info. Username is "whatever@bellsouth.com" PW is " " (use your old password or possible the new one you created for the AT&T account....whatever works)
Once signed in, on the yahoo page click the "mail" icon. Then on the mail page in the upper right corner click options and more options. In there is a page to change your email password. Do that and be sure to SAVE the changes.
Logout from the mail, and then logout from the Yahoo page.
Put the new password in your email program and see if it works. -- GuruGuy |

| reply to etomp10291 I rarely visit my email account at AT&T. I just forward all my mail to my private email domain.
That works just fine, but because of this thread, I decided to make my occasional trip to look at the AT&T account. I could not even surf to www.att.net
Is that still the right place to go? The last time I tried it, it worked.

 | reply to etomp10291 thanks for help, still not able to change it. I tried using yahoo.com and it just defaults me to att, unable to change.
Seems att.net does not exist anymore, sends you to yahoo.
I will get on phone with support and start changing email addresses to different address.
thanks for the help. |

1 edit | Yes, I finally got into my account by searching Google for "AT&T email", which directed me to att.my.yahoo.com
Why can't they make up their minds about their web address?

1 edit | AFAIK, it has been 'att.my.yahoo.com' (or 'sbc.my.yahoo.com') since shortly after SBC bought AT&T, then changed their name from 'SBC' to 'AT&T'. Lot of changes were made between the 2005 SBC takeover of AT&T and th AT&T takeover of Bellsouth.
My former AT&T IP address had been manged as, 'SBC Internet Services' until the name change; after which it became, 'AT&T Internet Services'.
I can still, as always, get into my accounts at, 'mail.yahoo.com'. But I am in limbo about how to change a stolen password because I can't get into the AT&T account management pages; I am no longer an AT&T customer.

Put the new password in your email program and see if it works. At least for me changing the email/account password only did that. And stated it does not change the new DSL network password.
Nor would the following automation to do that, or recognize my security info thought when I finally got hold of a human, they verified that is the info in their system.

The account and email password are always the same it's the network password can be different That is no longer a choice the network (modem) password is system generated and separate from the account/email PW.
Maybe you can change it latter, but that changing the account/mail PW would not change that and separate security to do so, not sure they will allow them to all be the same anymore. -- »haywardm.com (Hayward's Key West)

| reply to etomp10291 just in case someone else needs this. Only took me an hour!! It did work though. This was for my bellsouth.net account. I was changing the password on one of the sub-accounts and i used that email address and that password to log in (not my main email address) @To change your email account password, you will need to go to the link below. @John Richards pushes page, »att.com/myatt @Once you have the page, change the Account type from Wireless to Phone and Internet. @Then simply sign in using your email address and current password. **okay. I have an account overview page @Okay good. Kindly click on the MyAT&T option up top please. @This will give you a sub menu. On that sub menu, it will give you the Profile option somewhere to the right. (middle/right-at the top of the page) @Click on Profile on the sub menu please and it will take you to the Profile page. @After you click on Profile, look for the Edit Security Information link somewhere at the bottom. @After you click on Profile, it will take you to the Profile - User information page. Scroll down and look for the Edit Security Information link under the Security Information section. Click on that link and it will then take you to the page where it will have you change your security information, and the password. The password part would be at the bottom. |

But I am in limbo about how to change a stolen password because I can't get into the AT&T account management pages; I am no longer an AT&T customer. I am no longer an AT&T DSL customer either, but the old email addresses are still assigned to an AT&T (pay by the minute) dialup account by default even after you disconnect the AT&T DSL service (that is why you can still use the email accounts).
Try using the method shown by hmmmm0 in this post in this thread: »Re: bellsouth.net password change?? . You can eventually get to the same place by going to the AT&T/Yahoo! portal page: »att.my.yahoo.com/ , logging on with your AT&T email credentials, and clicking on the [Member Center] link and following the link trails to the account management site.
I recently used that same procedure to delete a couple of email aliases that were only accumulating spam, and you can also add/remove sub-accounts (if you login using the old AT&T primary account credentials), and change passwords from the same site. I don't actually use the old AT&T/BellSouth email accounts directly, but I do use them as forward and store mailboxes for my in-house email servers to poll. Despite all of the "I hate Yahoo! email!" threads you see in this forum, I have found that the Yahoo! email servers are actually quite reliable (especially when used the way I use them...as intermediate temporary backup storage for my in-house email servers). -- History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. -- Dwight D.
