LCD TV Samsung LNS2652DX

My tv suddenly doesn't display any image and when i check the backlight it doesn't light up anymore.

Is there anything that i should check or do to fix this TV or it's good for the garbage ?

Thanks

Does it still turn on and output audio through the speakers?

If it does then you're looking at either an inverter problem or a bad backlight lamp.

If it doesn't stay on and does not produce audio, then most likely a power supply problem.

All can be fixed with the proper parts and know-how.

That would usually indicate a backlight or inverter board fault.

But you should still have sound though, and should still be able to change channels.

Perhaps the capacitors on the power supply have gone bad which is causing these weird symptoms. Or maybe the logic board is fubar.

Thanks , i previously said that i wasn't able to change input with the remote or on the tv but i do after being able to see the screen using the flashlight.

There's no sound , the only time there's sound is when the melody play when turning the TV on.

When i unplug the power from the TV and reconnect , when i turn it on i see the screen illuminate for a second and then it goes black.

I have had the same trouble with a small monitor I have. Never did fig it out. I just assume that the screen is toast.

That usually indicates that one or more of the CCFL (cold cathode fluorescent lamps) in the TV have gone bad. The inverter turns on, determines there is a bad lamp, and shuts off.

Although sometimes it can also be a bad inverter board.

How old is this TV and approximately how many hours a week was it used on average?

Thanks , i am able to see an image using the flashlight on the coaxial input but there's no sound , trying the HDMI i don't get any image on the screen but only a weak shhhh sound which can be raised lowered with the tv volume control.

The tv was bought in august 2006 and it was used 35 hours per week.

That's over 10,000 hours. While CCFL lamps are typically rated for 20,000 hours, failures can happen before that time due to variations in the manufacturing process as well as the usage pattern of the TV and operating temperatures.

I'd say there's about a 80% chance that the problem with your TV is one or more of the CCFL lamps.

They can be replaced and if you can do it yourself it's not too expensive, but it is a very delicate process which I wouldn't recommend attempting if you don't have some experience repairing electronics. Soldering and careful dis-assembly will be required.

Having someone else replace the lamps, however, can be quite expensive.

Thanks , would it possible that there's another problem too since i don't get any audio beside the shhh sound ?

Is it possible that you might have messed up the audio settings of the TV when messing around with the remote and controls trying to make the TV work?

The fact that you get the "I'm turned on" sound when you turn the power on is a good sign.

Thanks , the only buttons i used on the remote control were channel up down , volume up down , and input and on the coaxial input there's no sound at all.
