Game won't "see" saved data

I'm hoping someone here will be able to answer this and I'm sorry if this is clearly has an easy "fix", but I'm not an avid gamer so I don't keep up to speed with all the gaming tech.
I have an older white Xbox 360 Core system and have been playing Crysis 2 on and of for a while. I recently got myself a newer system (4 GB slim) and while I was able to transfer the data from the old system to the HDD of the new one, when I start the game I'm told there is no saved data. How can I get the game to recognize the saved data?

Thanks for any and all help with this.

Did you recover your gamertag from the old console to the new one? Saved games are tied to the gamertag.

Sorry to say but your question is a bit foreign to me. I only copied the saved game data from the Xbox memory card to a flash drive then moved that data to the HDD on the new console. Where would I find the "gamertag" and would I have to copy over the game data again?

Thanks for the reply.

go to the same section of your console's memory storage on the dashboard. the files on your old core 360 will be divided into folders/categories like "demos", "videos", and "games", there should be one there called "profiles" i believe. that folder will list each "gamertag" or login-name you've used on your original core 360.

"move" the desired profile (gamertag) to your memory card, then again to your new 360.

as Ken said, your saves are associated with the account you log into your 360 with. this is your "gamertag". each gamertag has a friendslist, and gamerscore among other things.

the major assumption here, is that the reason your new 360 can't find the save game data you copied to it, is because you have logged in as a different user. you can confirm this by going to the "Guide" while logged into each xbox individually, and checking the active profile name.

additionally, i'm pretty sure xbox.com has some support docs about this, but unfortunately my current firewall situation prevents me from being able to check for you.

hope this helps.
