[Rant] Comcast Direct Useless

Comcast direct forum is useless. I've been trying to post over in that forum and no response what so ever.

I've worked for an MSO for over 10 years and I had a simply question asking why my DOCSIS 3.0 modem is provisioned for DOCSIS 1.0 (TDMA) at 16QAM, single channel on the upstream.

Verizon MIFI vs Comcast, MIFI actually loads WEB pages faster by 4-5 seconds and download speeds are 5mbps slower. MIFI upstream is actually faster by 4mpbs. Might be time for a switch if Comcast doesn't come out of the stone age caves.

Update... Comcast just reset my modem while I was tied into a customer network while on a conference call with them. Completely kicked my connection and voice service off.

Upstream was: DOCSIS 1.0 but at 16QAM. (DOCSIS1.x (TDMA))

After reset and kicking me off the internet: DOCSIS2.0 (ATDMA) 64QAM

Just like to thank Comcast for booting me off the internet without contacting me first.

also thats not a provisioning issue......thats a traffic/noise issue that made the cmts switch you to a 16qam....it can and will happen again in the future....no way around it....what the cmts wants, it gets......

I'm better than you!

If you are concerned about such occurrences find a real provider with a real SLA.

All Comcast DOCSIS internet offerings are "best effort" -- you get what you pay for.

That is not a correct statement. It should say

"All Comcast DOCSIS internet offerings are "best effort" -- you pay for what you get".

Comcast's best effort is pretty poor.

Fixed uneven quote tags. ~sorto'
