[DIRECTV] Please Bring METV and Antenna TV and Retro TV to DIRECPlease Bring METV and Antenna TV and Retro TV to DIRECTV channel line up, we need more classic tv networks besides TVLAND because, TVLAND does not show classic shows like they used to, they have gotten more modern on sitcoms. So we neet channels liek METV and Antenna TV which are subchannels so if Cable TV can get these channels, DIRECTV can get them too, so everyone if you have DIRECTV goto directv.com/feedback and request these channels to the lineup if you love classic tv shows. Thanks so much for your time and support!

Re: [DIRECTV] Please Bring METV and Antenna TV and Retro TV to DMeTV, Antenna TV and Retro TV are not nationally registered TV stations, but affiliates from local networks that wish to carry them as a substation over the air.
To carry the substations on all local spot beams that have an affiliate, would cost enourmous amounts of capacity, anywhere from 1 to 3 on each spotbeam.
To carry them as a national network and be placed on a CONUS transponder, they would need to register with the FCC as a fully fledged TV station, and get a full license, which they currently not have (and/or willing to pay for).
In other words, the likelyness of this happening is slim. If they are OTA in your local area, your best bet would be to get the OTA add-on tuner for your DirecTV DVR, install an antenna under the roof (or on it), and run a cable to it. The DirecTV guide will have the OTA stations for your region with the OTA tuner, so you can then tune into local substations seemlessly, and record from them.
Cable TV can get these because they are LOCAL, they can pick up the LOCAL OTA feed, and distribute it accordingly. The same is true for U-Verse and FIOS and the like.
Remember: Their income will primarily depend on LOCAL commercials, and DirecTV doesn't (can't) broadcast different local commercials to national TV stations, unless they are on a specific spot beam. (And even then, a spot beam often carries multiple local areas, e.g the one for Los Angeles als carries the Palm Springs DMA, the San Diego DMA, the Santa Barbara DMA, and others.... it would become a real capacity cruncher if they needed to add MeTV for all DMA's.
There really isn't much DirecTV can do here.... not until the stations in question register themselves as a national network, get national advertisers instead of local ones, and they have already chosen a completely different licensing route.
And although old TV programs are indeed cool..... I don't think the demand is high enough for them to become a national TV station and go head to head with stations like TVLand etc. | | 88615298 (banned) join:2004-07-28 West Tenness |

Jeremy I believe you can get most of those in your area via OTA. | | |

Does your DTV box have a built-in OTA tuner? My Dish receivers all do and I do all of my locals, including the sub channels for MeTV and Antenna TV (I don't have a useable signal for RTV) via OTA instead of using the satellite. There are 2 local channels that do extensive HD and neither Dish or DTV carry them in HD, so OTA solves that problem too. | | mrphil1 join:2009-01-02 Charleston, IL |

"The DirecTV guide will have the OTA stations for your region with the OTA tuner, so you can then tune into local substations seemlessly, and record from them." D* guide doesn't supply info for all sub channels nor is one able to watch/record locals not included in their guide with their AM21 OTA addon tuner. There is also no guarantee they will ever add these subs to their OTA lineup for any given area. There is a possible work-around, but can get a little involved for the average user. Of course, if they have a TV manufactured on/after March 1, 2007, they can at least watch these channels OTA....but unable to record on their D* DVR. | | BuckarooBBeware Lectroids from PlanetX Premium Member join:2001-10-27 Cloverdale, VA |
