musick join:2011-11-15 Wauconda, IL | [Modem] Att 2Wire Dry Loop DSL ISSUES - Random Reboots -Cry For I'm hopeing someone on this forum can help me
the other day the power supply on my AT&T 2Wire Gateway 2701HG-B (router/modem) died and I replaced it with a new power supply
everything was back up and running but now my 2Wire is randomly rebooting itself
I have no idea what exactly is triggering it but it is driving me insane ... I don't think it is the power issue
if anyone can help me troubleshoot it would be greatly appreciated
ethernet cable running from computer (MS Vista) into home network jack on Ooma Telo (I've had my Ooma almost a year now and have had no issues) cable running from to internet jack on Telo to 2Wire port phone wire running from Telo to Panasonic handset base phone line wire running from 2Wire to wall jack
if I do a command prompt ipconfig the Default Gateway IP is that of the Telo not the 2Wire
please feel free to ask what questions you think would be helpful for me to answer and I'll do my best to keep checking this thread as best I can
just wanting things to be back to normal and I don't know if that means replacing the 2Wire, replacing the Telo, reconfiging my network, getting rid of ATT for someone else, or something else
thanks in advance |

 | Re: [Modem] Att 2Wire Dry Loop DSL ISSUES - Random Reboots -Cry Was the modem rebooting prior to your replacing the power supply?
Is the replacement power supply a genuine 2Wire one with the proper ratings (5.1 VDC, 2 or 2.2A)? |

 | reply to musick I noticed my DSL modem (2701HG-D) was acting the same way as you described this past week. It would randomly reboot\power cycle itself. I thought this happened before because of an update that Qwest would try to push.
To fix the problem, I disconnected the network cords attached to the router and on each computer that was connected wirelessly - I disabled the wireless connection. The only thing plugged in now is the power cord and the DSL phone cord. Upon the power cycle it would finally stop rebooting and stay on.
So I then plugged in one of the network cords in the router and it didn't restart the router. I then enabled one of the wireless devices and it instantly power cycled. In order for the wireless to work for me I basically had to let the ethernet connection work for a while first without rebooting - like 10 minutes - then I enabled wireless on my iPad and it worked fine.
This is just a workaround but I recommend getting a new router. |
