D-Link DSL-2540B - can it do static IP addresses?

I've just signed up with AT&T, and bought a block of 8 (really 5) IP addresses. I went through their registration process, but I'm having trouble getting this modem to work right. Any ideas? It keeps saying PPPoe is down.

To set up the DSL modem, for the first time you need to call AT&T to setup your account with your modem MAC number, and you need to setup your PPPoE account user name, password, and usually with Dynamic IP. The modem can only take one static IP address. I don't know why do you need a block of 8. Yes the modem can take static IP address.

Thanks!

I got a block of 8 IPs, because that is all that they will sell to me. I only really need one anyway, so no big deal.

The mac address and stuff worked when I registered for the account. I'll work on it again in a few minutes, and see if I can make Good Things happen.

Select the correct PPPoE in the router set up in order to connect with the ISP. Since you already got the IP addresses, you may try to use the Static IP address (not the PPPoE) to connect with the AT&T. Connect the DIR-655 router WAN port to the modem LAN port and use DHCP dynamic and different IP on your DIR-655 router.
