| [FOOD] Antonelli's, anyone else in Western CT that comes close? So I've made two trips to Antonelli's meats in Waterbubble, one last month for a whole brisket I BBQ'd and this time for some chuck and some other meats. They couldn't grind chuck for me, seems they don't do any special cutting, like with the cold cuts they have, they are pre sliced. I have my own grinder so I got a whole slice of chuck so I can make TX chili.
Fantastic prices and the brisket I got last month was excellent, no chine on it! Nicest brisket I've ever gotten. $2.59 a pound, but you have to take the whole thing in the cryo pack (that is how I get it anyways). Other stores in the area sell only parts of the brisket and for as much as over 6 bucks a pound.
On my budget, a place like Antonelli's really helps on my once monthly trip into Waterbury. The place is pretty dumpy, and next to a gentleman's club (mob?) but a cool place. Anyone else shop there? I just hope I won't find a body or Anthony Soprano there or something! (I am still "adjusting" to "life" here in CT) -- Join Teams Helix and Discovery. Rest in Peace, Leonard David Smith, my best friend, you are missed badly! Rest in peace, Pop, glad our last years were good. Please pray for Colin, he has ependymoma, a brain cancer, donate to a children's Hospital. |

It's been a while since my last visit, but I doubt it has changed much. -- "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use." |
