SagemCom 2864 + PS3 Media Server Trouble

So yesterday I upgraded my internet service to Fibe25.

The modem they installed was the SagemCom 2864 as the title suggests.

All works perfect except for the fact my PS3, when looking for media servers, does not 'see' past the modem/router (SagemCom) and lists only the 'Bell Connection Hub' on the PS3.

This PvConnect(Bell Connection Hub) comes up as an empty file structure on the PS3: Videos, Songs, Music. I don't have any USB storage connected to the Sagemcom.

The MAC address shows up in Media Sharing Options on my window7 boxes but my PS3 cannot see any shared files on either windows boxes.

With my previous router/modem (speedstream) I never did anything special and the PS3 saw my shared files on my netwroked pcs.

Not sure what else to do.

After Googling, these guys seem to have the same issue:

I even tried like the guy in the above post of portforwarding TCP/UDP port 1500 to one of my boxes to no avail.

Anyone have any ideas?

Try enabling DMZ.

what type of computer is hosting the files? is it mac, windows xp, vista, 7

I have the sagemcom and I can access my DNS-323 NAS with no problems. I'm going to setup a test share on my windows 7 PC and will report back if I'm successful or not.

Windows7 on both boxes.

Awesome ya try and see if it works for you.

I tried DMZ did not work. Thanks for the suggestion though.

The weird thing is with old router/modem all was fine so it does lead me to believe that it is something with the Sagemcom or something different I have to set up that I am missing.

just to keep you in the loop.....

I USED to be able to see my NAS on my ps3 and stream video off of it. Currently, I cannot see my NAS from my ps3... :/

Still troubleshooting.....

EDIT: Did a full shut-down of my PS3, restarted it, and now I can see my NAS again. Continuing troubleshooting of original problem.....

Do you see the 'Connection Hub' of the Sagem on your ps3?

OK, while I have never attempted to share a windows folder to a ps3, I'm going to take your word for it that it used to work.

So I took an existing folder on my desktop that contained a few pictures and set it's basic sharing settings to 'Everyone'. I can't see that particular folder on my ps3. I haven't played with advanced sharing settings for that specific folder. I attempted to place the ps3 local ip in the sagemcoms DMZ and it made no difference.

I may have a work around that might suit you.... in my next post coming up....

On your windows 7 PC....

Open Network and Sharing Center. On the left is a link to... Change Advanced Sharing Settings.

There will be 2 options trees here.. 'Home or Work' and 'Public'
One of the two trees may already be expanded but in any case, either tree has a round button beside it with a UP or DOWN arrow on the button itself. One of these two headings will have the words '(current profile)' beside it.

Now, my windows 7 pc's see my local network as a 'Work' network, but NOT a public network. that's the Current Profile windows is referencing my the previous paragraph.

So I'm going to assume yours is the same. If your set to public, that may be an issue right there.

Anyways, expand the tree for Home/Work by clicking its button, if it's not already expanded.

4th sub heading down should be 'Media Streaming'

My settings here showed it to be disabled. Click the blue link 'Choose media streaming options'

Here you can set up for local machine only (which i recommend).

From what I can tell, this will share your default sharing folders under as a simulated UPnP media server that your PS3 should find. You could access your files that way by moving entire folders there.

It's a quick and dirty work around, but you may be able to customize it in ways I haven't figured out for myself yet.

Hopefully that starts moving you in the right direction and you should still be able to access folders from your windows 7 pc, on your ps3. Again, not what your used to but maybe that will be satisfactory?

I can try. Did you try it yourself?

Yes, and I was able to fully explore folders and subfolders, and play a movie

Is your PS3 connect via wifi or ethernet?

ethernet, but I doubt that would make a difference in this situation

you might have to 'scan for media servers' in the ps3 menu options

I'm not a windows file sharing guru unfortunately. I use a NAS that runs a Linux OS and it's a UPnP device by default. I've never attempted to access a windows share on a ps3

So in the main Network and Sharing Center window....

Does it show you as being connected to a PUBLIC network with the little picture of the brown bench, or a WORK/HOME network with an office building icon, or home icon?
