Speeds...

It seems that every few months I need to be switched to a new port.

Every time this happens I lose more speed from my connection...

I was at 12.5 then 10.5 now around 8.8...

I'm reported as having around 6000' to the CO.

Where Is my speed going.

Hello, my name is Erick and I am with GWI. If you send me a note with your username I can look into your issue.

Yes that would be my take on it, fairpoint is happy if your gwi pair is a piece of shit, makes it like see it not just them, but all dsl.

To be fair to Fairpoint (and i do HATE being fair to them) The last 2 times I've had any speed/sync issues, The problem was traced to Fairpoint, and they took care of it within 24 hours. And the tech they sent out, actually had a clue, amazing as that seems.

I have had 2 or 3 port issues in the past 2 years that have required being moved to a new port, but GWI has always been helpful and fast at getting it fixed, both on my Residential lines and Commercial line.

Since the upgrade i've gone from around 9mbits to 14.

on the plus side as soon as three ring binder gets up here, another company will be offering FTTH... I'm on the waiting list for being a Beta tester so hopefully soon I'll be free of failpoint.

Where else will the beta be running? all over Maine? also how do you get on the list?

It's not part of the three ring binder. But they will be getting their bandwidth from it. Just an Aroostook County ISP taking advantage...

I think I was switched to a new port recently as well. I found I have a new IP address and speeds have dropped from ~10mbps to 8.5mbps.

I opened a ticket last night and today I got my speed back (forced ADSL2+ on)! Thanks a lot Erick!
