Re: Toll Increase No, no, no... you have to understand -- the number 1 goal of the tollway authority is to expand the budget/influence/power of the tollway authority. It has nothing to do with roads. It CERTAINLY has nothing to do with quality roads or getting the best roads for a reasonable price for the people of the state.

| I know you were joking, but the sad thing is it's probably mostly true. In fact the power/influence probably comes from outside of the Tollway Authority as well. I.E. congressman who's district said road runs through wants to create jobs for the local unions, so he or she pulls some strings.
Us backward country folk here in DeKalb County don't got no influence. But we all got are 4x4 pickum up trucks with muddin tires, so who needs paved roads anyway!  |

| I'm not an expert on road construction so I could be wrong. However based on my observations when they widened I-88 between Orchard Rd. and Rt 31, I wouldn't think a full intermediate repave would be necessary. With I-88 they basically just slightly widened and repaved the right and/or left shoulder so it could serve as a lane during the project.
Also with this being Illinois, the land of corruption and wasteful spending I'm a bit biased in my thinking. |
