 | Is It Time To Upgrade My TI Motorola VT2142 Adapter? I have had Vonage for a number of years without a single issue. So I say lets upgrade and cause myself some grief!
Joking! Kind of. I looked on their site and they say for like $50 I can upgrade my adapter. Is it worth it? Will sound quality improve?
Just curious whether it is worth it to upgrade. Are there any really cool features or technologies that would increase the quality of my service or is it negligible?
This is the pic of the device they say I can upgrade to: »imageshack.us/photo/my-images/85···box.jpg/
This device looks cool but was not offered: »wifiphone.net/product_info.php?c···ts_id=97
Do they give you choices or is there a 3rd party adapter that you guys think is best.
Anyway thanks in advance. |

| I don't know whether it will provide you with any sort of enhanced service, but I have two of those new adapters sitting on a shelf that I will be happy to ship to you if you'll cover the shipping costs. I've moved to VoIP.ms and don't need them anymore. The lack of excitement expressed by Vonage when I offered to return them was . . . palpable. |

 | reply to soulrain I have the one you mentioned (Vonage Box) it's manufactured by Cisco.
It's great, I've never had a problem with mine. Sound quality set to highest (Through Vonage's website) |

 | reply to DoctorStinky Which one do you have? I would be interested. |

 | reply to sjvirchow Cool.
Vonage is the best best company I have ever dealt with.
Had to call like a few times and ya the customer service was in India but the best help I have ever gotten.
I never have issues. This trouble calls were like 6 years ago and they were just for set up questions. |
|
 | Same for me too. Never a problem. |

| reply to soulrain It looks exactly like the one in the picture you posted; the model number is VDV22-VD. One was brand new in February, the 2nd is a reconditioned unit that looked brand new when it arrived (even had the vinyl shield covering the piano-black plastic). The reconditioned unit worked identically to the new one, and was obtained for our 2nd (vacation) home. Unfortunately, I'm not sure I can tell them apart at this point . . . hopefully the reconditioned one has a sticker on it somewhere.
The first (new) one was used for 7 months, the 2nd (reconditioned) for 5.
I had 2 lines/numbers, home and business. When we traveled to our other home, we would move the lines from box to box using the Vonage web site's "Move a Line" feature. |
|
 | Ah sweet speaking of vacation homes I am traveling for the next bit of time definitely will look into when back. |
|
 | Interestingly (to me, anyway), the vacation home was the primary reason I left Vonage . . . but that's a long story already told in another recent thread |
|
 | haha I will search and check it out ;P |

I am curious how did you come to the conclusion that it's manufactured by Cisco ? Two of the boxes I have in use at the moment have MAC addresses associated with Hon Hai Precision Ind.Co.,Ltd. aka »www.foxconn.com

Oh, cool then my Foxconn computer motherboard must be made by Cisco too, right ?
